A little history about Zenaida’s Cafe
Founded in 2016, Zenaida’s Cafe is a comfortable throwback with its unique style. This eastside diner with a rainbow-tiled floor, art-for-sale on the walls, and a funky jazz soundtrack dishes up breakfast and lunch with hearty comfort food specialties and ever-changing Chef-inspired features and has become known for unique ways to accommodate Vegetarian and Vegan diners.
Zenaida’s love for food does not stop at the Cafe. Chef Sterling and the catering team can build a custom menu for all events; weddings, business dinners, private parties, and more!
A little history about the Chef
In 2012, after leading the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas as Executive Chef and Vice President Culinary Operations Chef Sterling Burpee received a calling to bring high end quality food to airports.
He joined a young team of entrepreneurs successful in retail in several airports across the United States who tagged Chef Sterling to lead a new team and bring high quality food at the fast pace demanded at airport venues. The “Crews Enterprise” then quickly expanded to Dulles, Reagan Airports, Atlanta and 5 new concepts in LAX. In all Chef Sterling was part of a 100-million-dollar addition to the Crews Enterprise.
Prior to joining the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas in 2006, Mr. Burpee was the Executive Chef of the Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas. Before Wynn Las Vegas, Chef Sterling was the Senior Banquet Chef for the Marriot Marquis in Manhattan, New York. Prior to his position in New York, lived in California where he was Corporate Chef at UCLA.
Mr. Burpee also has years of experience working in the casino restaurants. He was part of the opening team for Bally’s Park Place Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He continued his career opening other casino-hotels such as The Sands as Executive Sous Chef, at Caesar’s as Lead Cook Primavera, the Showboat Chef De Cuisine, Sundeck Coffee Shop, and Claride Casino as Sous Chef Main Kitchen. Mr. Burpee has been in the hospitality industry for 40 years, but he will never forget his apprenticeship under Master Chef George McNeill. It was from him that he gained his professionalism and learned the importance of quality and the presentation of foods.
All along and to this day, Sterling has provided consulting to clients in many phases of the restaurant and catering business from start-ups to industrial kitchen design and menu development, to staff training and financial responsibility.
Since 2016, Chef Sterling has delighted diners on the Eastside of Las Vegas at Zenaida’s Café while also operating a highly successful catering business that brings his exceptional talents to events of all sizes and types.
